boring books

Should we be enraged when public figures declare that reading is boring, asks Susan Hill (via Arts and Letters Daily)

(boynton has Susan Hill to thank for haunting her with the The Woman In Black - actually not the book, or even the play, but the TV film of 1989 - that can still cause the odd unsettled chilling flashback.)

One of my sisters is a gourmet cook-book junkie. She buys these beautiful (expensive!) books with their full page glossy pics - never cooks anything, though, just sits and drools.
