danger

danger

While browsing Bacchus Marsh pics (as you do) I chanced upon an image from childhood that has since disappeared - one of the Danger signs that used to grace intersections in Melbourne. There used to be one along the late 60s valiant trek from the foothills to Preston, though who knows where it was exactly in those 20 scary miles of melways.

But I'm not old enough to remember the clocks

The clocks, the clocks, I love the clocks, I've always love the clocks.

And if you look closely at the picture you can see Stingfellows' French Knickers.

I think it's Victoria Street looking west?
So I can't see the alleged Knickers for the wheels?

But I've never seen Vic street looking so quiet.

I don't remember those clocks, but some identical ones were on nepean highway at Edithvale during my childhood drives from Mornington Peninsula to melbourne.
The new RACV building has some in their outdoor cafe on Bourke St.

There were DANGER signs in Templestowe, here and there. Reynolds Road (the bits known as Foote St) comes to mind.
As the Sesame St.-ers would say, it's no stranger.
