word for word

What is the word for a word which is another word spelt backwards?

One of the AskOxford FAQ via J walk

(I liked the sound of that lyrical frequent question)

Thank you Ms Boynton for yet another absorbing link.

"what is the word for a word which is another word spelt backwards?

A: There is no generally accepted term. The simplest word for such words is something like semi-palindrome or half-palindrome."

brownie thinks they are both crap suggestions and it should be a michaelpalindrome of course.

Beats "drow" which has been snatched by the D & D crowd anyway.

Sey

Deedni

(that sounds half like the Knights who say Ni - which is where I semi-expected the answer to go)

Those FAQs are good fun. I think Michael would like to be a palindrome, Brownie.
